Field research in Kibera

Living Goods is a social enterprise that focuses on developing “efficient, scalable, and sustainable system to deliver life-saving and life-changing products to the world’s poor.” In 2013, Living Goods will expand its operations to Kenya. The organization will set up branches in Nairobi to deliver goods to Nairobi’s urban poor.

Spatial Collective worked with Living Goods to deliver research findings from the informal settlements in Nairobi. We collected and aggregated open data on key indicators from all of the informal settlements. Based on that analysis, our team of local data collectors investigated, from a user-experience perspective, the feasibility of four key products in three geographic locations. Our findings were used by Living Goods to determine where to set-up its first office in Nairobi.
